Installation steps

How to Use the BinBind Latch

To Open: Press the safety switch outward while lifting the handle arm upward.(To open with your right hand: Press the safety switch with your thumb while lifting the handle with your index finger.)

To Close: Push the handle arm down until it clicks securely into the safety switch.

Part 1: Install the Latch

  1. Drill the Holes:
Select a flat area just below the rim of the trash can body.
Use the latch as a template to mark two hole positions, then drill two 5/32-inch holes.

2. Mount the Latch:
Use the included screws and nuts to secure the latch.
The latch hook should face upward.
3. Open the Latch:
Press the safety switch and lift the handle arm to keep the latch open.

Part 2: Install the Cable

    1.Drill the Holes:
On both sides of the trash can lid, mark and drill two 5/32-inch holes.
Important: Avoid drilling too close to the lid edge. If the cable gets caught between the lid and can rim, it may prevent the lid from closing fully.

    2. Insert the Cable:
Close the lid, then thread both ends of the cable through the holes from outside to inside so both ends extend into the can.

    3. Adjust Cable Length:
Pull the middle section of the cable downward and hook it onto the latch (while the latch is open).
Feed any extra cable into the can until the line is roughly taut.
(Tip: After adjusting the cable length, temporarily secure the cable to the trash can lid with tape to hold it in place.)

    4. Lock the Cable:
Remove the cable from the latch, open the lid, and insert both cable ends into the cable clamp.
Tighten the two screws on the clamp with a screwdriver to secure the cable ends.

    5. Test & Adjust:
Close the lid, hook the cable onto the latch again, and adjust the latch screw length as needed so the cable stays under firm tension when closed.

    6. Tape Protection (Optional)
To prevent the nuts or cable inside the can from snagging trash bags, you can cover them with black duct tape.

    Another installation method

Follows the same basic steps, with the cable and latch positions swapped. Attach the steel cable to the can body, and the latch to the lid.
